Thanks for joining the ICO OGSS 2025

ICO looks back on a successful ICO Open Graduate Spring School 2025 in Blankenberge. The week was full of highlights, kicking off with the keynote of Anne de la Croix, and ending with the keynote of David Gijbels. Their presentation slides can now be found on the ICO OGSS-website on the page about the keynote sessions.

The various workshops and PhD presentation sessions were highly appreciated by all attendees. Many remarked that they made valuable new connections throughout the week and gained fresh insights. The final highlight was undoubtedly the social programme, featuring a lively pub quiz during the opening reception, an excursion to Bruges on Wednesday afternoon, and a fantastic party on Thursday evening.

And congratulations to all our winners:

  • Winner of the Best Paper Award: Simone Polderdijk, Utrecht University,
Title: Good classroom managers in high-need urban schools: a qualitative analysis of interpersonal teaching behavior
  • Winner of the Best Poster Award: Mikko Haavisto, University of Turku,
Title: Videos vs. illustrated texts in primary education: Investigating learning outcomes, cognitive load, study rates, and reading skills
  • And last, but not least, the winning pub quiz team: Team Chaos White, with Pantelis, Marije, Wenyi, Joram and Catur.

Thank you all for being there with us, and making it into a great week.
