NEW DATES: 18-19 April 2024
We would like to invite all ICO members to save-the-date for ICO’s 12th networking event: the ICO Spring School, on 21-22 March, 18-19 April 2024, at Utrecht University.
The ICO National Spring School is a biennial, two-day networking event for all ICO Members. During this event, ICO members can meet, mingle, and learn about the projects of other ICO members, while the PhD-candidates can practice their presentation skills in a safe environment.
At the ICO National Spring School, you can
During both days a lunch will be offered.
We suggest you to stay in a hotel nearby to be present for the full programme and the Spring School-Dinner on Thursday evening. In due time, we will provide you with some information of available hotels and hostels in the area in case you need to find yourself a place to stay.
The focus of the National School is on the ICO PhD-candidates. PhD’s will present their project, either in a Junior Presentation (for 1st and 2nd year candidates) or in a Senior Presentation (3rd or 4th year candidates). The Junior Presentation can be either a Poster Presentation, or a Round Table Session. The Senior Presentation is a Paper Presentation.
For all presentation sessions it is required to send in a paper and an abstract 9 February March 2024 at the latest. All papers will be accepted automatically.
More information about the different presentation types and how to prepare for the sessions can be found on the website in due time.
ICO staff and postdoc members: our discussants and chairs
While the PhD-candidates are presenting their work, all attending ICO staff and postdoc-members will have a role either as chair of a session, or as a discussant. Of course, we will try to give all staff and postdocs the opportunity to be present as an auditor at the presentations of the projects they are involved in themselves, either as a promoter or as a supervisor. If you have any special wishes regarding the presentations of your PhD-candidates you want to attend, please let us know, using your registration form.
Observers
We would strongly recommend attending the ICO National Spring School to all our members. ICO Alumni are welcome to join as observer. Also if you are an ICO PhD and you are not yet ready to present your work or if you have already done so in previous years, you are warmly invited to join us as an observer in order to meet people from the ICO network, and to learn from all presentations, discussions and workshops.
Workshops
On Friday morning we will organise several workshops. All visitors to the National Spring School can attend the workshops. There will be room for ca. 20 people in each workshop. More information about the workshops can be found on the page “Workshops” in due time.
Meet Your Theme-Group-session
The aim of this session is for the theme group coordinators to meet with PhDs and staff members with a research interest in a specific theme. It is an informal meeting where you can shortly meet face-to face to inform each other about the courses offered within ICO by the theme group as well as discuss what kind of workshops would be of interest for future courses or ICO’s International School.
We are looking forward to meeting you all again!
